Rather than making it an item, just have a 24/48 hour period where the winners can't be raided or mugged/attacked.  That way they have time to login and do whatever they need to do (buy amen or items) and it would be less complex to code.

Just a thought, i like the item idea as well without a time limit so the ticket was worth x amount of cash.  That way you wouldn't have to have it on hand or in your bank.  It is a warden IOU for say 500k for example.  You use the item and the cash appears, that way someone isn't forced to spend a bunch of cash on stuff they might not need.

I just noticed that too. Maybe some who have bought entries were put in permanent isolation or suffered mental breakdowns, I dont know, but it definately shrank a lot over the past day.
